The silver plated 28mm button of The Earl Stanhope of Mahon, in the Island of Minorca and has the backmark G. H. BULLIVANT, BIRMINGHAM and has the crest of a tower on which is a demi lion holding a grenade, all beaneath an earl’s coronet. The button probably dates fro the time of Arthur Philip Stanhope, 6th Earl [1838-1905] or possibly his son James Richard. Both served in the Grenadier Guards.   may14/3
