The Camel Carriage of the Lieutenant Governor of the United Provinces at Agra 1907
£20.00
The camel carriage of the Lieutenant Governor of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh, Sir John Hewett, is seen in this 6 x 4 ins photograph at Agra during the 1907 Durbar there when the Amir of Afghanistan was received by Lord Minto, the Viceroy of India. One of the more distinctive forms of transport, the carriage had three rows of bench seats. There is a vertical crack to the photograph from the top but it stops short of the camels. It is pasted to an old piece of thick card album leaf. may27/1
