Unmounted small intaglio of the Roman Colosseum

Small engraved unmounted intaglio, approx 7 x 5 mm. The attractive little intaglio is probably a late Grand Tour souvenir from the early nineteenth century to judge from the old jewelleery box from which it emerged. The small size and the chamfered edges to the facade and cutting of the back suggest this was probably intended to be mounted as a ring. nov19/1 SOLD 5th February 2025
