2 portrait plates, 2 plates of statue and bust, 3 plates of buildings associated with Hastings, 7 plates of facsimile documents including a coloured one of a trial ticket, illustrations in text, 28pp. Preface page and last page of text a little soiled and chipped, now in a late 20th Century maroon cloth with black leather spine gilt. Article from the Journal of Indian Art and Industry with preface by George Birdwood explaining that this is re-written version of an unillustrated article which had appeared in the Madras Mail. Daylesford House, near the Oxfordshire border of Gloucestershire was designed for Hastings by Samuel Pepys Cockerell, architect to The East India Company and building began in 1787. Cockerell is better known fro the Cockerell family house at Sezincote. apr15/1
