Young officers with a motor car 1914
£30.00
A charming little snapshot dated 1914, 3¾ x 3 ins, showing two young infantry officers wearing service dress photographed in Monmouthshire standing in front of a smart little motor car. On the right Capt S. P. R. Rolls of the Dorsetshire Regiment was serving as Adjutant to the 2nd Bn the Monmouthshire Regiment. His companion is identified as Smithers of the Bedfordshire Regiment. The motor car looks like a doctor’s coupé and the radiator has rather the lines of a Rolls Royce. The officers wear jodhpurs and riding boots which would probably soon be exchanged for the sturdier brown trench boots. jun2/2
